Males vs. females in freelance
In our previous posts, we’ve talked about the freelance industry rising during the Pandemic. Even though there are a lot of women building careers in the freelance field, there is still a gap between the female vs. male percentage in this industry, while there is also a gap in their incomes. Overall, there was a 200% increase in the total percentage of freelancers. However, women are still learning 35 % less than men. Moreover, only 30% of women were found in the new registrations and only 20% were registered as a “talented pool” platform. At the same time, it was said that it grows at a relatively higher rate than that of men until 20 years of experience. Still, while men’s income increased by 20% during Covid, the women’s incomes remained the same. As the survey has further revealed the main industries female freelancers work in are: Human Resources, consulting, marketing and strategy consulting, IT. It is also worth mentioning that all women from the survey were top professionals of the industries listed above. Moreover, the survey reveals that the pay gap rises as the experience of women and men differ. The survey also indicated that women in freelance have, on average, from 10 to 20 years of experience, while men have more than 20 years of experience. As can be seen, even though many women choose freelancing as their career path, there are still big differences between male and female earnings.
